Larme de Crocodile

Larme de Crocodile (in English, "crocodile tears"; Japanese name: クロコダイルの涙) is the first Kahimi Karie full-length, released after a string of six EPs and the Momus-penned Japanese chart hit "Good Morning World". It was released in 1997 by CRUE-L Records and was only available in the U.S. and Europe as a Japanese import. The album featured five additional Momus collaborations (including two with music by accordianist Coba), as well as songs written by Yasuharu Konishi of Pizzicato Five and Philippe Katerine.

Larme de crocodile contains references to many diverse musical genres, such as jazz, French chanson and electronic music. It can be considered an important release in the then-booming Shibuya kei sub-genre of Japanese pop. Karie explained that "with Larme de [c]rocodile, I wanted to make really, really melancholic music, to be alone." [1]
